Hazelnut GIANDUJA
Unit price per
Gianduja – a well-known combination of cocoa and hazelnuts. Although it originated in Italy, for us, it feels unique and close. In Lithuanian mythology, there was a goddess Lazdona, who protected hazel trees, and in the sutartinės (Lithuanian folk songs included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list) of the Aukštaitija region, the hazel is called the Tree of Life, grown in the middle of the waters. Hazelnuts were an important food for ancient Lithuanians, and also sacred, thus they always adorned the festive table.
The hazelnuts used in our chocolate are sweet Hall's Giant hazelnuts, grown in the Lithuanian farm "Riešutas ir uoga". We shelled, sorted, and combined these nuts ourselves with soft and nutty cocoa from the Dominican Republic.
