In Western Uganda, in the Bundibugyo district, which borders the Democratic Republic of Congo on one side and is surrounded by the majestic Ruwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Park on the other, cocoa trees grow among bananas, plantains, palms, and coffee trees.
This Semuliki Forest cocoa is grown on small organic farms, numbering as many as 3400, with 52% of the farm owners being women. Latitude Company, which processes and exports the cocoa, is a registered B-Corporation, purchasing high-quality fresh cocoa and paying growers 20% more than other buyers in Uganda.
The robust chocolate flavor is complemented by berry notes – like a cherry on top.
Ingredients: cocoa beans*, sugar*, cocoa butter*. May contain traces of milk and hazelnuts. Cocoa solids not less than 70%.
